Description
Hannah Pierce (1788-1873) of Baldwin, in a letter to her brother Josiah of Gorham, details some of the expenses and activities needed to keep her homestead -- the family farm and house -- going.
She notes that she has to pay taxes, buy seed, pigs, fix a cellar drain, and take care of a variety of household expenses.
