Description
Josiah Pierce (1756-1830) of Flintstown (later Baldwin), wrote to his mother, Ruth Thompson Pierce in Woburn, Massachusetts, urging her to come to Flintstown, if only for a visit.
He wrote, "I have put myself out a great deal to procure a Place for my Father and you to live on because I thought that it would be better for you to live near me so that I might assist you if you stood in need ..."
