Description
Josiah Pierce (1792-1866) of Baldwin wrote to his sisters that he had been "examined about 6 hours" and then accepted as a member of the sophomore class at Bowdoin College.
He wrote of the coming three years at Bowdoin, "I dont anticipate much pleasure, but I will be contented."
