Description
Josiah Pierce (1792-1866), a student at Bowdoin College, wrote to his sister Hannah in Baldwin about a suicide in Topsham, commenting that the woman, who slit her own throat, seemed to have a good life, making the event especially surprising.
Pierce also wrote about his expenses at college and that he had sold his flute to help pay bills and he was thinking of selling his watch.
