George Pierce on college fines, Brunswick, 1823

Description

George Washington Pierce (1805-1835), a sophomore at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, complains to his brother Josiah Pierce (1792-1866), an 1818 Bowdoin College graduate, about returning to campus after a break and finding two fines for infractions he believes he did not commit.

He writes, "Do write me soon and give me some cooling drops to cure my burning indignation ----"
