Description

The Cimbria was a ferry run by the Bangor and Bar Harbor line. She was 289.14 tons, 116.7 feet long, 18.5 foot beam, 7 draught, and 500 horse power and made her maiden voyage in Brewer in 1882. She ran from Bangor to Bar Harbor. She also made some runs down the Penobscot River to Belfast. One day she ran aground at Mount Desert point due to foggy conditions, but was not severely ruined. After being hauled off the rocks, she was modernized before heading back to her launch. As railroad travel became more popular the Cimbria relocated, in 1915 to Bridgeport, Connecticut then in 1920 to Chicago. The 1922 register listed Cimbria as abandoned.
