Description
This factory was built by a group of Springvale citizens at the corner of Bridge and Pleasant Streets immediately after the 1905 fire. Its first tenant, the Preston B. Keith Shoe Company, moved in on December 1, 1905. The W.L. Douglas Shoe Company took it over in 1908 and Sears & Roebuck in 1910.
This building served as Shop Number Three of the Sears & Roebuck Company until 1929, when it was taken over by the Universal Shoe Company, and finally the Allied Novelty Shoe Company. The building was demolished in April 1972 and as of 2009, the site was occupied by Village View Apartments.
