Description
On May 3, 1923, the eastern portion of the Bangor Railway and Electric Company's storage dam gave way, sending down a wall of water that carried away several of the town's structures.
This image illustrates some of the debris left behind.
No one was killed owing to an early fire alarm warning and the dam being located three and one-half miles from Ellsworth's town center.
