Description
Henry (Harry) W. Lyon Jr. as a young naval officer.
Lyon served aboard ships as a seaman, chief mate, and master from 1906 to about 1912. In 1913, he became captain of the S.S. Likliki in Hawaii.
He served as a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserve during the World War I, commanding the U.S.S. Westerner, a Naval overseas transport ship.
