Description
The Wadsworth-Longfellow House, the smaller brick building at right, was the first brick house in Portland.
Peleg Wadsworth (1748-1829) had it built in 1786 with bricks from Philadelphia. It also was the childhood home of the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) and later became the first historic house museum in Maine.
