Description
A deposition of Samuel Whitney of Brunswick about his capture, along with his son and five other people while haying in their fields on July 24, 1751.
The deposition notes that the group was "surrounded & surprized by nineteen Indians & one Frenchman who were all armed & in a hostile Manner."
Whitney states that the Indians were from Norridgewock.
Isaac Hinckley, one of the captives, was killed while trying to escape. The other captives were Samuel Whitney Jr., Hez. Purrington, Edmund Hinkley, Gideon Hinkley, and Samuel Lombard.
