Description
Elizabeth P. Ricker became interested in dog sledding in 1926 when Poland Spring resort, which her family owned, held dog sled races.
Musher rivals Leonhard Seppala of Alaska and Arthur Walden of New Hampshire competed at Poland Spring in 1927.
Elizabeth Ricker established a kennel to breed the Seppala sled dogs at Poland Spring with Leonhard Seppala.
