Description
Historian Cyrus Eaton claims the house was built in 1793 by Captain David Jenks. Jenks lived in the house on 20 acres with his family and occupied a portion as a tavern until the place burned in 1813.
The house was rebuilt and was sold to Dr. Daniel Rose, first warden of the Maine State Prison in 1830.
