Description
William Southworth purchased a lot of land from Mason Wheaton and James D. Wheaton in June 1804. The house was built on the land before 1823. Southworth also built a smith shop near the bridge by Mill River circa 1804.
Captain Ruel Hallowell and his wife, Emily, owned and lived in the home in 1854.
At one time the yard was surrounded by a high white fence.
