Description
The Civilian Conservation Corps Camp Alfred operated under the Maine Forest Service from June 1933 to November 1941.
The primary task of the CCC men was insect and disease control. Here, a crew is cutting diseased apple trees.
The camp was organized at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, and most of the men were from Massachusetts.
On the back of the photo is written "Pingree."
