Description
The people in this photograph are walking and riding west along Hewes Point Road after disembarking from a steamboat which docked at the Hewes Point wharf. They are teachers going to a conference at the Islesboro Town Hall/High School. The mid-island settlement of Guinea is seen in the distance. The field to the left is now a public park, named after Maddie Dodge, whose house can be seen to the upper left of the road.
