Description
This is an invitation to a luncheon and the maiden voyage of Islesboro's second ferry, the Governor Muskie. The event took place on the 3rd of September, 1959.
Maine's governor at the time, Edmund S. Muskie, was instrumental in securing a state-run ferry system for the mid-coast islands of Islesboro, North Haven, Vinalhaven and Swan's Island. The Governor Muskie served Islesboro from 1959 to 1987.
