Description
The Bay View Hotel was built circa 1870 on Hewes Point, Islesboro's second summer community.
Similar to Ryder's Cove, Islesboro's first summer community, Hewes Point catered to middle-class families from the mainland.
These families came across Penobscot Bay from Bangor and surrounding communities, and stayed at the Bay View or built modest cottages by the water's edge.
Printed on card, "Bay View Hotel Islesboro, Me. Published by W.A. Ricker, Castine, Me."
