Description
Located on Water Street, this smokehouse was operated by Robert McBride until 1922 when Cadwallader Kelley purchased it. Arthur McCurdy bought it from Kelley's widow in 1959 and passed it to his son, John P., in 1977.
Handwritten on the back: "Second from right, Martin N. Brown, Cad Kelley's. Now J.P. MacCurdy's smoked herring stand - ? left in the United States today (Aug 1979) The Herald office would be to the right as you look at the picture -"
The boy with the cart is James Moores.
