Description
George Washington Pierce, an 1824 graduate of Bowdoin College, wrote from Northampton, Massachusetts, to his mother in Baldwin, to report on the beginning of his study of law there.
His studies had not begun. He wrote that he was attending a Unitarian church and told his mother that the minister would be unlikely to "shake my orthodox principles."
