Description
George Washington Pierce of Baldwin, studying law in Northampton, Massachusetts, wrote to his sister Harriot about a revival taking place in Northampton. "There was never anything like it in the whole world," he wrote.
Revivals were common in at the time, which has come to be known as the Second Great Awakening.
He also write humorously about what he has learned at law school.
