Description
Jeremiah Mason of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, wrote to George W. Pierce of Portland expressing his condolences on the death of Pierce's father, Josiah Pierce of Baldwin.
Mason, a prominent Portsmouth lawyer, was the father of Alfred Mason, one of Pierce's friends and classmate at Bowdoin College. Alfred Mason also had died by the time the letter was written.
