Description
George Washington Pierce, a Portland lawyer, wrote to congratulate his brother, Josiah Pierce of Gorham, on his election as president of the Maine Senate.
He wrote, "I hope you will be able to keep clear of attaching yourself to any of the factions which divide our party." The brothers were active Democrats.
