Description
George Washington Pierce, a Portland lawyer, wrote to his brother Josiah of Gorham, then serving as President of the Maine Senate, with details of the political issues surrounding George's desire to be appointed Reporter of Decisions for the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
In a number of letters, the brothers, both Democrats, strategize about getting George appointed. He had sought appointment as Attorney General, but was not appointed.
