Description
According to the publication Illustrated Souvenir 1908, “For time immemorial a little spring had gushed from the solid ground beneath a rock in one of the pastures of South Lubec.” In 1900 the Town voted $40,000 to construct a public water supply. The spring provided a copious flow of 300,000 gallons into the new reservoir the first night. The Lubec Pumping Station continues to operate this facility in 2009.
