Description
Harriot Pierce, daughter of Daniel Pierce (1803-1856) and Francis Lewis Pierce (1809-1874) wrote to her aunt, Hannah Pierce of Baldwin, describing what she and her siblings were doing. Harriet was 11 years old when the letter was written.
Daniel Pierce moved with his family to Orion, Michigan, in about 1838, to go into the lumber business.
The letter also includes a section from another "Harriet," who identifies herself as Hannah Pierce's cousin.
