An illustration etched on birchbark of Lox, "the great Indian devil who rose from the dead," that accompanies stories about Lox in Algonquin Legends of New England or Myths and Folk Lore of the Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot Tribes by Charles G. Leland (1884).
