Description
This postcard shows a trolley car in front of the Cushman-Hollis Company in Auburn. The Cushman-Hollis Company manufactured shoes.
The company closed in 1932. The cutters had walked out in August 1932 following a wage cut. The state Arbitration Board ruled in favor of the company and the workers returned. After a number of workers were denied their jobs back, cutters and others went on strike, joined by many workers at other Auburn shoe factories.
