Description
This granite statue was built in honor of the Pilgrims. The Statue of Faith is 36 feet high and rests on an octagon pedestal 45 feet high. The work is of Hallowell Granite Works of Hallowell from white granite. The work began by quarrying the stone in June of 1876. The granite originally weighed 400 tons and weighed 200 tons when completed. The statue was completed July 19, 1877.
