Description
Pictured are three shop girls working at Tom Evans Department Store on Main Street, Biddeford in 1899.
The owners, Thomas L. and Henry D. Evans, sold a variety of fancy goods and tinware in their store at 205 Main Street.
Merchandise is piled high along the walls of the narrow store, and it seems that every inch of counter-space is covered as well. The store is lit by gaslight, six lights visible in this picture.
