Description
Bathsheba Churchill (1776-1853) born in Middleboro, Masschusetts and moved to Buckfield, Maine where she lived most of her life. She married Thomas Long in 1795 and the two of them were the grandparents of the Hon. John D. Long who was the secretary of the Navy under President William McKinley. He was noted for his honesty and integrity. The picture of Bathsheba is noteworthy because of its early date, only 8 years after the first picture of a human face done in 1840.
