Description
United Packers Company organized in 1890 and was located in North Turner. It was the first of two canning factories in town. They processed 500,000 cans of corn annually along with thousands of cans of other products including fruits and vegetables. The husking yard employed 100 to 150 people. Husks and cobs were returned to the farmers as cattle feed. Acquired in later years by Burnham & Morrill, it ceased operations in the 1940s.
