Description
From a hill near Saco Avenue, the Old Orchard House looked east down toward the beach and the Pier beyond. To the lower right is a portion of boardwalk from the House that stretched hundreds of yards to the beach. Various boarding houses and residents' homes faced the road leading to the bowling alley and roller skating rink. In 1898 the Pier was pummeled by a storm that tore out a section of the Pier and reduced its length considerably.
