Description
Fire engulfs homes located on Hooper Street, Biddeford, on April 20, 1963. Two fires devastated this neighborhood in the Spring of 1963, the first occuring in March. The neighborhood was nestled between the mills and factories around Elm, Smith and Hooper Streets and the Saco River. This fire destroyed the Diamond National Match Factory as well as the remainder of the neighborhood. Firefighters and bystanders can be seen along the railroad tracks.
