Description
This image, photographed after the spring flooding of the Kennebec River in 1936, shows the houses on the west side of lower Water Street in Hallowell, in the area known as Joppa. The house and garage on the right was a motorcycle shop. Note the automobile which was pushed and deposited by the ice floes during the flood.
