Description

A view of the back of Drapers Mill around 1940, during high water. Draper's Mill was later known as the Guilford Woolen Mill. The photograph was taken from the south side of the Piscataquis River. The front of the Edes Building, future home of Burt's Bees, can be seen from this vantage point and is situated on the north side of Water Street. Poole's Bakery is also shown to the right of the Edes Building. To the left of the Edes building can be seen the outside covered stairway leading to the upstairs pool hall and bowling alleys.
