William Phineas Fisher, Brunswick, ca. 1880

Description

William Phineas Fisher was installed as pastor of the First Parish Church on October 22, 1879 and served until December 31, 1889.

He was also a Bowdoin College Overseer from 1884-1893.

Fisher graduated from Amherst College in 1866 and entered Union Theological Seminary in New York. He attended there for two years then went to Germany for further study.

He studied at Berlin University from 1869-1870 and then at the universities of Hall and Tubingen. He returned to America in 1871 after completing his theological studies and served in various churches before moving to Brunswick in 1879.
