Description
Old and new modes of transportation are traveling north on Water Street in Hallowell, across from Beeman's Corner, with the Kennebec River in the left background. The Augusta-Hallowell-Gardiner electric trolley line began operation in 1890 and shut down in the 1930s. The dynamo that generated electricity for the line was located in Hallowell's lower end.
