Description
A wagon sits on Water Street, looking south, between Leigh and Wingate on the left and the Cotton Mill at the extreme right. Beyond the Cotton Mill is a box factory, Temple Street corner and the many businesses and dwellings that made up the Joppa section of Hallowell. A large ice house is to the right beyond the wagon. Water pollution caused by mills along the river above Hallowell would bring an end to the ice business.
