Description
The steamer Della Collin served many years as the shuttle steamer between Augusta, Hallowell and the Boston Boat in Gardiner. The small steamer is viewed from Central Street and docked on Front Street in Hallowell. Front Street ran from the Eastern Steamship Wharf at the north end to the Leigh and Wingate Coal shed in the south. Front Street was created from fill deposited during Kennebec River channel dredging in the late 1800s.
