Description
Hand-colored lantern slide labeled "BF Coe Residence Penobscot + B'way untouched - all surroundings burned." However, although the image has been labeled as the Coe Residence, the building in fact belonged to Charles Stearns. The house was designed by Nicholas G. Norcross in 1833, sold to Samuel Stearns in 1894, and purchased by Dr. Henry M. Chapman in 1912. Today, the building still stands on Broadway.
