Description
The Improved Order of Red Men bandstand decorated for Lubec's centennial celebration. The Lubec Herald newspaper for Wednesday August 17 1910 writes of the “New bandstand erected by I.O.R.M. band.” The Improved Order of Red Men Band Associations were fraternal organizations intended to replicate the Iroquois League and to preserve American liberty. The sponsorship of local bands was popular before and after the turn of the 20th Century.
