Description
The Blockhouse in Fort Kent was built in 1839 to defend the area against the British during the "Aroostook War," a bloodless but contentious dispute with Britain over the boundary between the U.S. and New Brunswick.
In the 1950s, the structure became part of a park commemorating the 19th century boundary dispute.
