Description
Oramaudel M. Hubbard moved to Brunswick in 1866. He married Abbie Alexander and was partners with her father in the livery stable business until 1897. He began his career as rural route mail carrier from 1899 at the age of 55 until 1919 when he resigned at the age of 75. Mr. Hubbard was the oldest R.F.D. Mail carrier in Maine.
Oramaudel was a native of Palmyra, Maine and the son of Philip and Kesiah Hubbard. He enlisted very early in the Civil War during May 1861 in Company D, 8th Maine in Detroit, Maine at the age of 17 as a drummer. Oramaudel served in the band for General Grant, May 15, 1864 - August 25, 1865, then returned to the 8th Maine until January 6, 1866.
