Description

This is a view of Bangor from the east bank, or Brewer side, of the Penobscot River up river from the railroad and toll bridges. Besides offering a panorama of the riverside wharves, warehouses, and buildings, the card shows the railroad bridge across the Penobscot and the distinct downward slope of the railroad. This was to allow the tracks to divide and permit two trains to simultaneously cross on separate tiers. Several train cars are visible along the bank. The post card, addressed to Mr. Dennis Smith of West Farmington, Maine, but stamped 'missent,' bears the penciled message 'We are all right Irving' upside down along the top of the image side.
