Description
Josiah Pierce (1827-1913) wrote to his father about having passed all his examinations and being admitted to the sophomore class at Bowdoin.
Pierce, 16, had spent one year studying at Bowdoin. He wrote that he did not have to make up any subjects.
He also commented on the cost of his education, his rooming situation and the new sophomore class dinner.
