Description
Two weeks before the end of the fall term at Bowdoin College, Josiah Pierce wrote to his father in Gorham detailing his semester's bills.
He also commented on how "keeping school" is the rage among his classmates, not for the money, but because keeping school is in fashion.
A number of students had left the term early to commence keeping school.
