Description
The eleven states that seceded from the United States in 1860-1861 issued their own currency. The money printed by the Confederate States of America during the Civil War was deemed illegal by the United States Government and was not honored in the Union states. This twenty dollar bill was issued on December 2, 1862 in Richmond, Virginia.
