Description
New Water Street sidwalk, Lubec, ca. 1972 From right to left, the old Calkins Shoe Store, here recently renovated, Mabee’s Drugstore which at that time held a Rexall Drug Co. franchise, Unobskey’s (formerly C.H. Clark), its vertical sign partially obscured by a utility pole, and “George O’s” (Olson) at the corner of School Street. These buildings, much modified, still exist as of 2010. Lubec Hardware opened in the old Calkins shop, farthest right building here, in 1976. Beyond in the distance the post office building, identified by the second story bay window. This site is occupied by the Lubec Memorial Library as of 2010. The photo date was identified by George Olson in 2010.
