Description
Lowell's Crossing is located where Second Street crossed the Maine Central Railroad tracks. It was named for Eliza Clark Lowell who donated the money to build Hallowell City Hall in 1898.
Attendants lowered two gates from the site, one at the gatehouse and the other at Chestnut Street to the north that was connected to a long underground cable.
